Alaska Thunderfuck on it Drag race heritage
Alaska certainly had an impact on its debut season of Drag race.
So much so that his eventual return to All stars was inevitable.
But stepping into season five as the boyfriend of the previous winner was never going to be easy.
“I entered season five knowing I wasn’t going to win.” She actually says.
“Sharon had just won. I know this show. There’s no realm of reality where they’re going to crown a winner from the same city, let alone someone dating last season’s winner.
“So I walked in and had a great time and enjoyed the process because I knew I wasn’t going to win.”
Unfortunately, his prediction came true and Alaska Thunderfuck finished second, but ready to come back.
But his return has brought additional pressure.
“With All-Stars 2 I was like, everyone thinks I’m going to win. So the wait and the pressure was really high, so it was miserable. She laughs.
However, upon exiting a show like Drag race requires courage, determination and creativity. Since her victory, Alaska has released three solo studio albums, countless singles and has toured the world.
But was it all part of the plan?
“I don’t really like planning and I’m not good at it. So I just like to do stuff that interests me. What I like about drag is that you can do a little bit of everything.
One of Alaska’s greatest trips was Little Poundcake. What turned into a simple challenge in season five spawned a All stars track and eventual album of the same name.
“A lot of people were tweeting and talking about Lil Pound Cake. So I thought, maybe I’ll make it a real thing.
So that was it Four quarters is part of his musical heritage.
Alaska Thunderfuck comes out Red 4 Dirt
The end of 2021 brings Alaska Thundfuck to their fourth studio album, Red 4 Filth.
Like the previous album titles, it’s a throwback to its days on Drag race.
The album from the Alaska perfume created for the market in episode eight.
“Season 5 of Drag stroke happened ten years ago. Now it’s vintage, it’s a step backwards, ”she laughs.
“I love to reference Drag race and stuff I have done in the past so Red 4 grime was obvious.
“It’s the red era right now. Red is the color of passion and love, so there are songs about relationships, friendship and love.
While , Anus, Four quarters and Vagina were more self-referential comedies, Red is a celebration of music.
“Vocally, it’s really a lot of fun,” she says. “It was really, really difficult. I took singing lessons and tried to shape my voice.
Musically, it’s definitely a change for Alaska, a festive return to good music.
“It’s really based on the 90s and early 2000s, it’s also like time traveling.”
Red 4 Dirt slowly released via a series of singles.
Earlier last month, Alaska released their debut single from the album. Red, which you can watch below.
This week comes the release of his double-sided single Belle (night 4 a) collapse / Without your love.
They are now available on all platforms HERE.
My name is yours, what Alaska?: A Memory
Not content with filling our brains with music, Alaska Thunderfuck also released a book.
We all knew she could read, but my daughter, we didn’t know she could write too.
My name is yours, what is Alaska? : A thesis is the title, of course.
“Making a book has always been part of the plan. I’ve always wanted to make a book, a movie, and a TV movie. So the opportunity to do the book came along and I was like okay, what kind of book do I want this to be?
It’s a colorful memory, not just in the stories, but in the vibrant images that adorn the pages.
It has been a labor of love for Alaska to help bring her fans into her world and see all that has shaped who she is.
“It was like a really long therapy session for me. I would come back to some really tough times and go over them over and over again. I hope people can learn something from them.
Aside from the tough times, it’s also an entertaining and endearing glimpse into his drag journey.
“My favorite part of the book is my first drag life. Whether it’s the Blue Moon in Pittsburgh or even before that trying to figure out cruising in Los Angeles and feeling completely like an alien. I’m just surrounded by the most gorgeous, dancing, fiercest, lip syncy drag queens ever.
In true Alaskan style, it’s a candid exploration of who Alaska Thunderfuck is and what got it to where it is today.
Drag race was really fun to watch!
With Drag race after being screened earlier this year, it was important to get expert advice.
We needed to know, what did Alaska Thunderfuck think of our Australian queens?
“I thought it was really fun, it was really fun to watch,” she exclaims.
“I spent so much time in Australia and thought that was about the time there was a Drag race! “
“This was the first season, god bless the girls for doing it. The girls are great and the drag is sickening and kudos to Kita who has had such a journey of growth and development during the season. C was great to watch “
While Alaska loved everyone on the show, did she stand out?
“Anita Wig’lit! She left too early! She better come back for the All-Stars. I feel like we haven’t seen the last of her. Bring her back! “
For queens looking to apply for the next season, Alaska has this to say.
“Apply for the show. Do it. Be yourself.”
“I know this sounds like a cliché, but don’t try to pick what you think is the Ru girl they’re looking for.”
“Show the silly and ugly parts of yourself because these are the things that make you special and make you different from others. This is ultimately what they are looking for, it is something they have never seen before.
My name is yours, what is Alaska? : A thesis will be available for purchase later this year.
Red for dirt should be released in early 2022.
