Celsys’ e-book viewer “Clip Studio Reader” now supports dynamic effects in vertically scrolling comics called “Komatoon”

TOKYOCelsys’ “Clip Studio Reader” e-book viewer now supports over 100 display effects, including vibration, when viewing vertical scrolling comics as Komatoons, as of the latest update published on September 29. This update opens up the ability for comic publishers to use a range of expressions in webcomics.

Example of Komatoon with effects

Celsys’ Komatoon is about dividing traditional comics page by page into individual panels for online viewing in a vertical format. In addition to image processing, layout changes and coloring, over 100 effects including transitions and vibrations can be added. Using this method to reuse already available comic book data can help comic book publishers save costs compared to creating webtoons from scratch.
